1 on 1 Soccer: A Tiny Pitch, Two Players and a Lot of Laughs
1 on 1 Soccer, released by Adam Wardle in September 2014, reduces football to its simplest form. There are no teams, no tactics boards and no long matches, only two players, one ball and two goals on a small pitch. The goal is to score more than your opponent before the time limit runs out. What makes it memorable is how bouncy and unpredictable the action becomes, especially once you start experimenting with the game's cheat settings.
How to Play 1 on 1 Soccer
Move your player with the arrow keys or WASD. You can bounce the ball, head it, kick it and generally do whatever it takes to push it into the other goal. Matches are timed, and the player with the most goals at the end wins. You can play against the built in computer opponent or invite a friend to share the keyboard, and the optional cheat settings change the physics to make matches even sillier.
Tips for Better Results
- Stay between the ball and your own goal when defending.
- Jump just before the ball arrives to send it upward and over your opponent.
- Use the walls to bounce the ball into awkward angles.
- Try the cheat settings with a friend for completely different matches.
Who Will Enjoy It
This is an excellent quick game for two people sitting at the same computer, and it works well solo too. A full match takes only a couple of minutes, so a rematch is always close at hand.
